No, I didn't forget. You see, THIS favorite thing is my MOST favorite thing. It deserved a post of it's very own!
I've always been a pen freak...no, really, a pen FREAK! Ask anyone who knows me well, I have a panic attack if I'm in the grocery store about to sign my receipt and I can't find my pen in my bag. "NO WAY, I don't want to use your blue BIC pen Mr. kind cash register man. Can you wait a minute while I run out to my car to get MY pen?!?" (about that bad)
Once I find a pen I love I am a VERY VERY loyal fan. I've been this way since I can remember. Pilot pens have always held a special place in my heart. I recall going through High School totally in love with the RED and/or BLUE Pilot BETTER Retractable Ballpoint Pen (Fine Point Please)During the beginning of my mission I was introduced to the Pilot G-2 Retractable Gel Roller Ball Pen. While this was a wonderful pen and I quite enjoyed my relationship with it, the time came to say goodbye. You see, I'm left handed and pens just don't write as well for me as they do for the rest of you right handed people out there. It just wasn't SMOOTH enough for me. (But would be for any of your right handed people out there)
For the majority of my mission I used THE pen! I was lucky enough to be introduced to it by an elder...This pen became DOCTRINE for the missionaries. No seriously. EVERY Elder had one in his pocket with his blue planner (yes, I'm older than some of you out there, we used BLUE planners). This pen is called the Pilot G-TEC-C4. I NEVER left home with out it! We have a very intimate relationship! (Did I tell you that I only found them in blue or black?)
I brought about 5 of these pens home with me from the mission but they only last so long. It didn't take me long to find out that the USA does NOT sell them! After a brief panic mode, I called Pilot Headquarters. You know what they told me? They told me I could ONLY get them in Japan. It is a special fine point pen for the Japanese people so they can write their characters easier. I told the lady that I actually bought some in Canada and WHY are THEY so lucky to have them there? She told me that she was very surprised and that Pilot does NOT have a contract to sell them to Canada. (whatever, I call that MISCOMMUNICATION)
Long story short...I have searched HI and I have searched LOW...and in the mean time, had family visiting from Canada bring me these pens. Well, about a year ago, I had my lovely pen in my hand as I wrote a few notes during church (of course, duh, what else would I be writing with?). This girl leans over her husband who I was sitting next to and asks me if I was holding a Pilot G-TEC-C4...WHAT? You KNOW what these are? After a much enthusiastic conversation about a pen, I told her about how I can't find them anywhere (including online). She gave me a web site that sells them. Guess what else? They sell them in many many many colors AND you can get them up to .25 fine!!! I can't even tell you how that day changed my life forever! The PILOT HI-TEC-C (as shown in the picture below) is the exact same pen however the ink is much more superior ink that is highly insoluble with most pigments.
Is there such thing as a 'professional pen user sponsor contract'? Pilot should TOTALLY pay me to use their pens! Let's give it up to PILOT! Woo-Ya!
OK - I just went through my bag and found: 1 Pilot G-TEC-C4 pen in BLACK, and 8 HI-TEC-C pens in BLACK, YELLOW OCHER, APPLE GREEN, CLEAR BLUE, CAMELLIA PINK, BROWN, CORAL PINK, BABY PINK. I told you I was a pen freak!

You crack me up...oh my! I think I have actually have a tear from laughing about this post. You are too cute!! I knew you were a pen freak but not to what extent...good to know who the expert is if I ever need advice in that area.
Wow - a whole post about pens. Kinda freaky ! :)
Have you ever tried Parker pens? Ryan LOVES them - he was introduced to them on his mission, but they are also hard to come by.
I'm a pen freak, too, but apparently not to the extent you are, maybe just to a lesser degree. I LOVE office supplies, but pens are my true love. I'm going to have to try these out!
I LOVE THE PEN!! I can't even begin to tell you what your post did to my heart. Mostly got me excited about going home in April...but more importantly I am even more resolved to stick with the G-Tec C-4 FOREVER!! You're my idol!!
I totally didn't know a new book was even coming out this year! I haven't preordered yet...but I did some snooping. Did you preorder the other book, Host or something?
tara!
wish i could visit you in georgia for march 25, but hello that is my GOLDEN bday! Lyle does have to work on that day though...i'm thinking of skipping work that day, but we'll see.
re: your pens...THANK YOU! I love you! I will always remember your pens and your perfect typewriter handwriting. I am jealous of your extra funds to buy pens online and will be excited to do so in about 7 years. booya for your pens!
This is so great!! I happened to be perusing family blogs when I came across this post! Hurray, I'm not alone in my love of the perfect pen. I'm quite particular and I'm thrilled to find out that you can order them online...hmmm, I wonder if they ship to Canada. Hope you are well!!

I think the G-2 is not as good because the extra fine point one is not as smooth as just the regular fine point. You must have found the G-Tec C-4 after I wasn't your companion anymore and you NEVER told me about it! I'll have to try it.
