Check it out!

OK, this still doesn't change the relationship I have with birds. We will never like each other. BUT, there is something kinda cute about Hummingbirds. Not my most favorite bird (that would be a cardinal), but probably a close second.

One morning about a month ago after my run, I was sitting out in front of my place stretching and noticed a humming bird flying across the parking lot to a tree right by where I was sitting. I sat there for a good half hour just watching this bird go back and forth and back and forth...pretty sure there was a little 'nesting' going on.

The next day I checked the tree and sure enough...a NEST had magically appeared. Since then, I've been keeping my eye on this momma bird (you know, making sure she was still there and that nothing happened to her). About a week ago, she was no longer there. ALL DAY she wasn't there (trust me, I know! I drove myself crazy by checking that tree a thousand times). I knew I'd never seen any baby birds peeking out so I wondered if the eggs just never made it and the Mom high tailed it outta there. I'd been meaning to take pictures earlier to document this process (but to be honest, I was actually really scared that the Momma bird would attack and we all know that wouldn't be good).

Then Monday night we were leaving on a little FHE drive and I walked under the tree and habitually checked my nest and there was the Mamma Bird! She was back!!! AND today after my run, I SAW BEAKS peaking over the edge! After Gary got home from work today, I went and grabbed a chair and made him pull the branch down so I could get a picture (I could have got it myself, but I needed a body guard to protect me from this Bird)! Cute pics eh? Well, sort of. OK, they aren't really all that cute. I never actually SAW the birds, the nest was still too high. I just put the camera up there and took a few shots. But I can't even tell you how small this nest is, so these birds have got to be T-I-N-Y.

okay...that is great! You can't be scared of birds now after that great experience. I want to see update pictures as they get bigger or anything else that happens.
